Kosmos Energy Ltd., an independent oil and gas exploration and production company focused on West Africa, filed on Friday with the SEC to raise up to $500 million in an initial public offering. The Hamilton, Bermuda-based company, which was founded in 2003 and booked $8 million in sales for the 12 months ended September 30, is backed by private equity sponsors Warburg Pincus and Blackstone. Kosmos Energy plans to list on the NYSE under the symbol KOS. Credit Suisse and Citi are the lead underwriters on the deal, for which pricing terms and timing were not disclosed.
