Online game developer Changyou.com files for an IPO and sets pricing date

March 17, 2009

Changyou.com, a leading online game developer and operator in China, filed with the SEC for an initial public offering on Tuesday. The Beijing-based company was formed as a subsidiary of Chinese internet portal Sohu.com (NASDAQ: SOHU) in 2007 and booked $202 million in revenues in 2008. Like recent IPO Giant Interactive (NYSE: GA), Changyou derives the majority of its revenue from a single title: Tian Long Ba Bu. The company plans to offer 7.5 million ADSs (representing 15 million ordinary shares) at a range of $14-$16, and the deal is expected to price during the week of March 30. Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, Citi and Susquehanna Financial Group are listed as underwriters on the IPO.
