Oil and Gas exploration firm Plains Exploration and Production will trade on the NASDAQ, not the NYSE

October 18, 2002

In a last minute move, oil and gas exploration firm Plains Exploration and Production decided not to list its stock on the NYSE, but rather on the NASDAQ. The Houston, TX based company plans to offer 5 million shares at a range of $12-$14. The deal was scheduled to price on October 17, but lead manager Goldman Sachs pushed the IPO into next week instead. Insurance broker USI Holdings also announced a move from the NYSE to the NASDAQ earlier in the day. USI, lead managed by Merrill Lynch and J.P. Morgan, is expected to price on Monday.
