Anthropic’s S-1 offers the first detailed look at the economics of a frontier AI lab. Revenue reached $17.0 billion in the third quarter, up more than 12x from $1.4 billion a year earlier, and the prospectus shows a business whose revenue now exceeds its compute bill, even as it commits hundreds of billions of dollars to future capacity. While its GAAP losses are steep, the company achieved a positive adjusted operating margin in both the second and third quarters.
The offering itself could make history. Anthropic is expected to raise an estimated $75 billion in what could be the largest IPO of all time, with a listing as soon as mid-November. Retail investors will have a way in as well: brokerages including Robinhood, Fidelity, E*TRADE, and SoFi plan to offer shares through their platforms.
Below, we highlight key data from Anthropic’s S-1 through nine charts.
