Solar technology company BrightSource Energy files for $250 million IPO

BrightSource Energy, Inc., a solar technology company that develops utility-scale solar electric power plants, filed on Friday with the SEC to raise up to $250 million in an initial public offering. The Oakland, CA-based company, which was founded in 2004, booked $13 million in sales last year. Principal shareholders include VantagePoint Capital Partners (25%), Alstom Power (18%), Morgan Stanley (11%) and Draper Fisher Jurvetson (7%). Goldman, Sachs & Co., Citi and Deutsche Bank Securities are the lead underwriters on the deal, for which pricing terms and timing were not disclosed.
